Banding/low quality on the Kubuntu branding during startup

The boot-up sequence in Kubuntu misses a lot (in my opinion), but will probably get better with time.

However - I am getting the Kubuntu splash screen in a really bad quality. Any idea how to improve it? Looks like it is being shown with 16 colors and that gives banding and noise...

Me too. It was fine when I first installed it, but when I installed the proprietary Nvidia drivers, it looks like yours. Love to hear how to fix that.

Seems like this is due to problems with a new component calle Plymouth. There are som fixes, all of the involve a good degree of commandline editing.

This is one of thos things where I hope someone will come up with a fix that has a gui. CLI is fine for people that live for fixing/hacking the OS. For people that has zero hacking skills, an easier fix is needed... :-)

I got a message about some updates and bugfixes today and after applying them, I had to restart. The new branding now shows the way it should! No need to hack any code.
