lucid crashed during upgrading from a stable Karmic

Lucid crashed my stable karimic system. My kde desktop will not start up and firefox will not open. I am typing this on xfce in kongueror on the same computer. when I type " sudo dpkg --configure -a" at a prompt I receive the following errors. What can I do to get Karmic up and running in KDE?

Hi - similar problems here. During the upgrade I got a message flashed at me (too quick to read) which had something to do with unable to upgrade apt -get. I then got a message that the upgrade was complete but with errors. now I also have no Firefox, no sound and several other problems.

Should I just download 10.04 and install of a CD or is there a reasonably easy fix to the botched upgrade?
