Pardon? But the two statements make no sense. If your usb wireless adapter isn't working, then how is it that you used knetworkmanger to connect wirelessly?

i meant to say i used knetworkmanager to create a new wireless connection.. as in..put in the ssid , security type, password etc etc.. when i try to connect to that profile..nothing happens..

But, I'm assuming, you are able to connect with knetworkmanger via a wired connection, yes?

        Open a console and type:
        Code:
        lspci | grep Ethernet
Copy and past the output into your reply.

i havent connected to ethernet... i have the kubuntu installation dvd.. i am currently using my laptop to question. I could try connecting using ethernet(the router is in the other room and i'd have to arrange my computer position).. but if this is gonna help.. i'll do it..

doing a "lspci | grep Ethernet " gives me:

00:13.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation CK84 Ethernet Controller (rev a3)

and doing "lsmod| grep rt2870" gives me :

          rt2870sta 525366 0

i'm currently re-installing kubuntu with ethernet net connection...in the hope that it might get the latest drivers after/during the install online..
