Sees Wireless Adapter but reports "no wireless extensions"

I'm running 10.04 and having trouble getting my wireless adapter to connect. It tries, but it ends up asking me for authorization endless times and not connecting anyway. After I give the authorization, it tells me it's "setting network address, and right-clicking on the icon shows me "activating," but it never does. Here are the outputs from the commands I suspect are relevant. I just don't know where to go next. Thanks in advance.

    ddoernberg@Antec:~$ sudo lspci -v | grep -i net

That thread got me to run nm-tool, which gave the following output:

      NetworkManager Tool

      State: connected

      - Device: wlan0 ----------------------------------------------------------------
      Type: 802.11 WiFi
      Driver: ath9k
      State: disconnected
      Default: no
      HW Address: C0:CB:38:39:01:A0

      Capabilities:

      Wireless Properties
      WEP Encryption: yes
      WPA Encryption: yes
      WPA2 Encryption: yes

So my wireless card isn't connected. Now I can do some research on how to connect it. Thanks for the reference.
