autofs will not start on boot in 10.04 LTS

    Kubuntu 10.04 LTS

I have configured autofs to NFS mount a network share. All works well as long as I manually start autofs. Autofs will not start at boot time automatically. It makes no difference if the map is direct or indirect. Other than writing a startup script, does any one know how to correct this problem.

    Thanks so much.

    /etc/auto.master:

    #
    # Sample auto.master file
    # This is an automounter map and it has the following format
    # key [ -mount-options-separated-by-comma ] location
    # For details of the format look at autofs(5).
    #
    #/misc /etc/auto.misc
    #
    # NOTE: mounts done from a hosts map will be mounted with the
    # "nosuid" and "nodev" options unless the "suid" and "dev"
    # options are explicitly given.
    #
    #/net -hosts
    #
    # Include central master map if it can be found using
    # nsswitch sources.
    #
    # Note that if there are entries for /net or /misc (as
    # above) in the included master map any keys that are the
    # same will not be seen as the first read key seen takes
    # precedence.
    #
    +auto.master
    #/- /etc/auto.nfs
    /y /etc/auto.nfs

    /etc/auto.nfs:

    #/y trekker-desktop:/x
    server trekker-desktop:/x
    #server -fstype=nfs4 trekker-desktop:/x

Re: autofs will not start on boot in 10.04 LTS

I believe this is a known bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/na...s5/+bug/733914

Workaround - add the autofs start command to rc.local or write a startup script for /etc/init.d

EDIT: Sorry just noticed 10.04 - Have you backported a newer kernel?
