laptop won't find Kubuntu shared printer

I shared my printer under Kubuntu.
My desktop (win7 ultimate) sees is and used it just fine.
My laptop (Win7 home premium) sees the shared directories but doesn't list the printer.

I don't even know where to start. I don't see anything obviously different between the two windows machines, but Win7 netwroking is a bit a of a mystery to me.

I could see not seeing anything, but seeing the shares but not the printer is weird...

I have no idea what log to look at on the Kubuntu side.
I hear the hard drive whirr so it seems the machine is seeing activity but I don't know why it's not printing

Make sure there isn't a firewall blocking something somewhere.

90% of networking problems (like you describe) are due to firewalls.

Turn off your firewalls, hunt for the printer. If it connects, you need to start tweaking your firewall settings.

a default Kubuntu install doesn't come with a firewall does it?
