cant update! but have internet connection

    cant update! but have internet connection

    hi,
    My kubuntu seenms to be connected to the internet since firefox works fine and i can ping IP's nom problem. But Kpackagekit wont connect, in the terminal i have tried:

    the only thing i have changed is setting the repo from Ireland to Main. can anyone help me out?

    Looks like you have dodgy sources, pls double check them

      I dont think there is anything worng with my sources, because Kopete wont even connect to internet either, i have checked the sources they all seem fine.

        Kopete doesn't get a connection either? And Firefox does? What sort of firewalls are you behind? You done something to your /etc/hosts.allow? The mind boggles...

          I know!
          I have set connections in systems settings to use a proxy, this is letting the weather widget on the dektop get info, firefox is on auto detect proxy. I have tried changing system settings from manual to auto detect proxy but that disconnects the weather widgets.

            Okay, that is something to go on. But not for me, since I run neither kubuntu nor KDE

              In your sources, switch the download server from 'Main server' to another specified server. Rule of thumb is to use the server located in your country. But if that isn't working, then choose one 'close' to it.
