    Installed Kubuntu and no internet...

hey guys, used linux before but now im serious with it

i installed Kubuntu and ran the first thing i saw, a messaging program, enter my msn details and it cant connect, check internet settings (thingy in system tray) and it says Not Available or Unknown something, i open it up, make a new Wired connection (my desktop with only ethernet ports - 2 of them on my motherboard) and tick box for connect automatically and get all the ip addresses and settings etc.. and click apply, open anything that needs the internet and it wont work... how to get internet working? Tried automatic DHCP but no luck, i went into my router and saw it recognised kubuntu and assigned 192.168.0.105 but I WANT MY INTERNET

running dual boot, windows 7 pro 64 bit and kubuntu 64bit 10.04 i think

    Motherboard: Gigabyte P55a-ud5
    CPU: Intel i5 750
Graphics Card: ATi HD 5850 (yes i had to plug my monitor into the other dvi when installing kubuntu)
HDD: 1x 1TB Seagate Barracude 7200.12 and 1x 500GB Western Digital Cariar Black or something (got windows on the 500gb, my gaming and multimedia on the 1tb and a partition on the 1tb for kubuntu)
RAM: Apacer 4GB 1600mhz gold heat sink

    please i need my internet!
    much appreciated

EDIT: Used linux before and rage quit after problems on a differnet system - this explains why im such a noob xD

We need to know about your network controller. Open a cosole and type:
    Code:
    lspci
Copy and paste the output into your reply.
