WiFi HP Mini 2140 not working

    Hi,

I have a HP mini 2140 that was previous on Ubuntu 9.04 but now on Kubuntu Netbook remix 10.04 :-) Works ok but the wifi network is not working properly. I'v installed the propritary harware drivers "Broadcom STA wireless drivers" and lspci shows the device.

Using NetworkManager and everything was a clean install and then updated.

I can detect networks bu the authetication phase fails. I've tried two networks both of which I have been connecto to before and none works. Any one that has the 4120 up and running? It couldn't be any difference between the netbook remix and the regular version right?

Check and see if you have both, KNetworkmanager and Wicd installed. Having both creates problems.

No, Wicd is not installed, it is however available under System Setting - Advanced - Hardware (along with NetworkManager 0.7 (first) and Fake Net (last).

Re: WiFi HP Mini 2140 not working [Solved]

The wifi router was set to WEP (I know not very secure but I have an old IBM ThinkPad that I have problem running anything else on). When changing to none or WPA everything works.

        I checked capabilities with
sudo iwlist eth1 auth and WEP was not listed?

Well, up and running and now it's time to take a look at the ThinkPad.
