    No Networkcard detected

    Hi,
I have a problem with my networkcard.
The KDE Panel says that network is Unmanaged.
The comand ifconfig returns just the lo.
I installed the kubuntu system 2 days ago and the network worked fine.
But today after many restarts the system can't dectect the network.
Thanks in advance for any answer
    rgds,

It seems we might be experiencing the same or at lease a similar problem.

i tried the lspci comand with the restulst that the system can detect the card but with ifconfig i can not see any.
the live system "detected" the card correctly.

Just curious -- is your Grub menu set to boot from the 2.6.32-22 kernel?

If it is, try booting from a previous kernel (32-21 or 32.20).

If either of them sees your wifi and configures it then open a Konsole and issues:
        sudo update-grub2

and reboot with the 32.22 kernel. See if it now allows the network to be seen and configured.

If not, then I suspect that you have wicd and knetworkmanger files co-mingled.

My default boot Kernl is 2.6.32-21.
I tried to update grub but no new Kernl-Boot-option(32-22) had been found.

If not, then I suspect that you have wicd and knetworkmanger files co-mingled.
So this is the last option but how can i seperate them?

I think I'm having the same problem, so I clean installed Koala and everything's working now.

              Problem temporary solved!

I used the comand dhclient to get eth0 working.

But after a restart eth0 was gone.

I am confused. Updating my system daily. But I have only kernel 2.6.32-20.
No 2.6.32-22 to be seen anywhere - not even in Synaptic.

                What am I missing?

Maybe 64bit kernels are differently numbered?

                  I don't know, I don't run a 32bit system so I can't say. I do know that a recent upgrade to my 64bit system included the 32-22 kernel.
