    Help me to configure Skype

    Hello,

I have Lucid Lynx as OS. Yesterday I bought a webcam Canyon CNR-WCAM43G. The cam is technically OK, but somehow I cannot configure Skype to show me while talking.
I also installed cheese and it is working OK.
The output device, shown both in cheese and Skype is: USB Camera (093a:2620)(/dev/video0).

Please, help me to fix Skype.

Skype is weird about starting your own video; you have to manually start it after initiating a call in settings. I'm not in front my *nix box atm, but from memory....

After the call is initiated, go to settings and select the video tab. There should be an option to 'start video' or something similar near the blank screen.

When you go Skype>S Button (bottom left)>Options>Video Devices and you click on the button that says "Test" what happens?

The box " Enable Skype Video" should be ticked.

One solution I have seen is for Ubuntu not Kubuntu and involves making a shortcut:
      SKYPE video to work

System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > Add
      Name: skype

      Command: env LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l2convert.so skype
      click Apply
      scroll down to Custom Shortcuts
      enter shortcut combination required.
      Close

Open skype by pressing shortcut combination

      Test video now!

        arochester,

The box " Enable Skype Video" is ticked.
When i press the "Test" button on the small black screen s.it happens - a big white blank screen appears (the whole monitor) and disappears on pressing esc.

Unfortunately I am not now in front of the PC in question.
On my laptop - Q - I also have Lucid and have had no problems with Skype so far.
