Hello there,
first of all, sorry for the next "my system is slow" Topic. Found a many of them but no one seems to be similar to mine. Second of all: I dont know if its a Topic for Hardware Support or for Software Support.
And here (3rd thing ) is my Problem:
Since KDE 4 (tried some Versions on this Hardware!) I have really slow system. I click on something (for example, switch Desktop or open KDE Menu, or Fullscreen an Window etc.) and have to wait about 1 till 2 Seconds. That doesn't sound so much, but the whole system is very unresponsive! Here is my Hardwdare:
Original NVidia Driver is installed:
Activated Desktop Effects are: Login, Logout, Highlighted Windows. Blur - for example - is turned off because of High CPU usage (red in another Thread here). Even if i turn off all effects it doesn't seems to be as fast as it should be. There is a lag of switching Desktops anyway - for example.
So, the question is: Is there anything i can configure/optimize? Or is is that a Bug (from KDE, Qt, or NVidia Driver)? Does someone with the same Hardware have the this issues? Is there any way to find out if (and how many MB) the Graphic Card share memory with my main memory? Or is there any way to debugg this deeper? Maybe which process exactly are this slow/need more time to calculate? Of course i know its "only a Notebook" with a "slow" Graphic Card, but i dont want to play games - just want to have some little graphic features enabled (mostly important for me translucency) and eye candy of my desktop! The whole System btw. is working really fast and responsive under Vista and 7. And no, thats not an option - but it should tell that it should be more responsive even with some desktop effects.
Btw: Maybe this Helps, too: This Lenovo Thinkpad T61 is connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 204B over a Lenovo Dockingstation (DVI). Both Monitors are turned on (TwinView, external: 1600x1200 + internal: 1400x1050). If i turn the Notebook out of the dockingstation its faster, but even not as fast as it should be.
Thanks for your Help.
Jens
