Hi,

After some xorg updates fetched by apt-get yesterday, nVidia proprietary drivers stopped working properly on my system. Reinstall using apt-get from command line did not help, and also if I try to start Hardware Drivers GUI tool it now shows empty tabs.

How can I get my desktop effects back?

Have you tried installing the proprietary nvidia driver using option 2 in this tutorial? http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3107406.0

it's the most thorough way and, if an upgrade messes stuff up, it's easy to re-install the driver.
