I hate to start the morning this way but your post begs a few comments...

    1. If you're going to use linux - be sure your hardware works with linux before you buy it.
    2. You haven't told us what you've tried to do to get it working or even that's it's not working.
    3. You haven't said that you've done any research on it at all before you posted.

    Some unsolicited advice:
Doing numbers 2 & 3 above will get you help in a forum a lot faster than begging.
Following number 1 will help you avoid a lot of frustration.

    To your request:
It should work out of the box. Have you tried it?

Plug it in, install "cheese", launch it. Install Skype, open up options, select video, check "Enable".

@oshunluvr: Don't be mean to the newbs (even if they don't read the things on the front page). We were all newbs, once.

@raylistic87: I find 361 entries when Google/Linux "logitech webcam C500". I'll bet you find something useful in the first 25. (like THIS)!

        First, install "Cheese".
It contains some libraries that seems to help a lot of webcams that don't work to begin working.

        Then, install "guvcview".
You can make pics and video with it and it has better graphic controls.

If that gets your video working then you can install Skype from the repository.

In the lower left corner of the Contacts list is a blue circular icon. Click on it and the "Options" menu opens up. Select the audio and test your speakers. Select the video and on that page will be a black square with a grey "Test" button in it. Make sure your video cam is selected, then click the test button. If you get a picture of you looking at your laptop you are in business.

If you want to test it give me a call, I'm am "greygeek" (Jerry L Kreps).

              Hi guys,

Haha. Due to my post, it led to a small "discussion."

But I appreciate all the replies to my post and in one way or another, everyone meant good and has the intention of helping me solve my problem. Nonetheless, I have manage to solve it as I go to skype and test the video and audio.

I initially thought that since I need to install driver for windows XP, most likely I will need to do it for kubuntu since I read somewhere in the ubuntu forums that webcams don't usually go well in ubuntu.

So, thank you everyone for your advices, and yes oshunluvr, if I know you in person, I will treat you that cup of coffee!

              Thanks once again!

              Regards,
              Ray

Funny how no one notices the "bucks" part refers to the cost!

                    I'd prefer StarCents...

I've never heard that one before! It's a repeater!

P.S.: Know where any good "StarCents" are?
