AMD unsupported hardware

    AMD unsupported hardware

    Hi,

    After enabling amd FGLRX graphics driver and rebooting my machine,
    I now see a see-thru message at the bottom right of my screen saying
    "AMD unsupported hardware".

    The motherboard is m4a89gtd pro usb3. This is the built in video card
    that I am talking about.

    Anyone know what the issue is or how to reinstall the driver?

      Interesting board with an exotic integrated graphics design.

      A quick Google and the the first thing I see is:
      Tested under Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. The open source graphics drivers work great, but the proprietary FGLRX graphics driver available through the \"Hardware Drivers\" control panel do not recognize the integrated graphics (displays \"Unsupported Hardware\" overlay).
      I have no idea why that is or how to fix it. It sounds like a problem with the board design and not with Lucid.

        Which version of the Catalyst driver have you installed?

        Maybe the version you have installed does not support the Integrated Graphic Card?

        Which Graphic Card you have?
        Have you tried to check it with a "sudo lspci -vv"?

          The integrated video card is:
          ATI Radeon HD 4290

          The drivers that I activated thru Kubuntu hardware manager had these versions:
          010.094.001.045.000000
          8.723.1-100408a-098580C-ATI

          Tried to download the latest linux ati drivers from amd (version 10.6) and install them.
          The system would not boot to X...

          Issue resolved by installing PCLinuxOS (currently driver version 10.5).
          So seems like the problem was with Lucid and not the board design - but who knows. I can run more tests if somebody tells me which ones.
