    X freezing with the message: EQ Overflowing

    My installation of Lucid occasionally freezes except for the cursor. I took a peek in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old and found this error at the end:

    Code:
    [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.

    The computer is a Thinkpad T510 with
    * NVIDIA Quadro NVS 3100M with 512MB
    * Video camera
    * Just the built in drivers for graphics, not the official NVidia drivers. I was having trouble with nvidia drivers and dual monitors, so I moved back.

    I'm no expert, but this looks like a good old fashioned software bug to me. Carefully check these bug reports and see which resembles your circumstances most. Then please do join in and help find a solution.

    Sorry about the trouble, but that's the best I know.

      I agree with Telengard -- it looks like the nouveau driver is mis-behaving on your hardware. I would advise (in sequence):

      1. KMenu > System > Hardware Drivers > Nvidia driver (be patient after you click -- it has to download)

      or, if that doesn't work

      2. Install the proprietary Nvidia driver:
