    HELP Sound Shuttering kubuntu 10.04

The problem is when i am using the laptop for a long time. The sound shutters and slows down the laptop. This happens on all programs. Wine amarok kubuntu sounds. I have updated to the new pae kernel. I need to have this issue fixed or i will have to go back to 9.10 untill this issue is fixed. Any help is greatly needed. Also there is no sound in flash on any web browsers. Also i need this fixed also.

    Thanks

Can you define "sound shutters"? Also, what is "the new pae kernel"? I'd like to help, but I'm an old geezer and I need a translation!

    Also:
Have you activated the medibuntu repositories?
    Can you describe your hardware?

The new pae kernel is for the server version of ubuntu. As far as the shuttering. When i am at the laptop and have it running for several hours and have music going i start to get the shuttering or when i play a video. Also when i lock the machine i get the shuttering. Also the flash sound does not work in any web browsers.

        Here is my current kernel

Re: HELP Sound Shuttering kubuntu 10.04

I still have absolutely no idea what you mean by "shuttering". Is something changing in a (quasi)periodic way? If so, what: volume, pitch (frequency), frequency range, or something else? If that's not what you mean, please explain what you hear without using the word "shuttering".

Second, why are you using a server kernel on a laptop? What else is your laptop doing besides playing music and video? Most laptops don't have the hardware to run as servers. The equipment list you provided seems fairly standard for a laptop, so I wonder why you aren't using a standard user oriented version of the OS. As a related question, how much RAM do you have?

I also notice that you seem to be using the built-in Intel sound chip. Does your laptop have an internal speaker, or are you feeding audio signals to an external speaker system? If so how is your audio system connected to the laptop? It may be that your connection is causing problems.

Re: HELP Sound Shuttering kubuntu 10.04

I have 2 gig of ram in the laptop. Also i found out that the pae kernel is leaner and faster than the orginal generic kernel. Also my sound is by laptop speakers and some times a tv is pluged in to the laptop. The shuttering happens when i am playing music and the sound comes out garbled. I wished i had recorded a sample of when this happens. I also have the generic kernel install also.

I would try using the generic kernel just to see if it makes a difference.
