    Graphics card causing ACPI conflict

AMD Phenom II X4 945 processor
    Asus ENGT 240 graphics card
    Asus M4A 785D-M motherboard
    Kubuntu 10.04

I just installed a new graphics card and I get:

    3.537080 ACPI: I/O resource piix4_smbus [0xb00-0xb07] conflicts with region SOR1
    after the boot screen.

Everything seems to work, but should I be worried.

Is there any way to check that the graphics card is working 100%

    Cheers

From the looks of it, it is a notification message and not an error message. In other words, it's just advising you that the kernel is not going to use the piix4_smbus module since there is another module (ACPI) using it. It seems that what you lose from the piix4_smbus module is the ability to monitor the temperature of your new graphics card (the old card likely didn't have a temperature sensor).

In short.... don't worry about it

    Hope that helps
