    Down-loading images from phone. (SOLVED)

    "Hello"

I've got one of those things called a 'mobile phone' which has a camera in it. All very nice but I would like to ask what do you think is the best software for down-loading images from the phone to the pc?

Phone is a Nokia 3120 Classic with 2.0 mega pixel imaging.

I canna get Digikam to recognise it so any other ideas?

    Thanks

You can try to get the pictures via bluetooth.

Ok I've downloaded various Bluetooth packages as per search results but fail to get Bluez daemon to run. I used sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth start and tried re-installing but this daemon don't run. It maybe things have changed as the post I got this from is quite old. Any suggestions please?

            Hmm,

What error messages are you getting?

Well, I can sync my phone (not a nokia) and transfer files ok.

You should get a bluetooth logo in your taskbar if you have bluetooth running and your adapter connected.

Then you should be able to pair.

To see if your daemon is running

            ps aux |grep blue

              Hi,

I get this from Bluetooth Manager:

and this from ps aux |grep blue

              and . . no logo!

Sounds like your bluetooth adapter doesn't like kdebluetooth? Have you looked in your log files to see whats happening?

                Start with messages and syslog.

Also - you didn't say what kind of computer/bluetooth you're using. This problem has occurred with others who have a bluetooth adapter you can turn off like on a laptop.

                    Hi.

Been away so not getting to grips with this. I think the dongle is the issue so awaiting another which apparently is Linux compatible 'out of the box'!

Re: Down-loading images from phone. 'Say CHEEEEEESE'

Well - finally got around to following this up. I've got a new 'dongle' for less than a fiver (£5.00 UK) and after a little bit of fiddling got my images downloaded to the pc. The dongle is a BlueNext V2.0+EDR ultra small (about and inch long so sticks out of the usb slot enough to be able to remove it) with CSR Chipset. None of that means anything to me but may be of use to youse.

I'm using Bluetooth Manager, Blue Who and Wammu - don't know if you actually need all three but it works for me!

Thanks to those who helped out.
