I've downloaded the KNR 10.04 RC and am playing with it with a view to installing it on my wife's netbook (if she likes it of course!). I have a couple of queries:
I have added space to the USB drive for files etc. As a result, I was able to do a few things such as configure wireless and install firefox/cheese etc, to make sure everything works, and everything stayed put so that on next boot they were still there. Does anyone know whether that would remain the case if I were to then install? On the other hand, does saving settings in this way mean I might have issues if I attempt to use that medium to install?
One thing I know that will be important is that I shall need to be able to get all major application links in one place (favourites) as my wife does not number trawling through computer menus as one of her hobbies - she has more sense In UNR which is currently on the machine it's a trivial task and in fact even firefox bookmarks can be put on the launcher. My brief exploration of the interface hasn't revealed any immediately obvious way to go about either of these and any pointers will be most welcome.
I did download a copy of KNR 9.10 when it was released. This version is a perfect example of how long 6 months is in computer development terms. Looks very nice indeed.
