The mostly-green "Matrix intro" artifacts are back in videos. I used to get them for a while back in ...Jaunty? Intrepid? They then went away with some upgrade.
Perhaps somebody could try playing some x264/xvid/mpeg-4/flv/AVI/MKV files* and see if they get those too? They're especially noticable/occur especially often on dark/black backgrounds. Try night or space scenes.
Kaffeine or VLC makes no difference.
X11, OpenGL or XVideo output makes no difference.
"Accelerated video output (Overlay)" or not in VLC makes no difference.
Desktop effects on or off makes no difference.
No artifacts in desktop effects, glxgears, or games I tried.
The pixels are zoomed (and blurred) together with the "real" video.
(* yes, yes, some of those are container formats and others are not and...)
