splash screen in kubuntu 10.04 not visible

Hi,
I know that 10.04 boots very quickly (which I really like - I'm looking forward to be able to show of to my windows-using colleagues... ;-), but I can't see any splash screen at all... I actually would like to see how it looks like on my laptop... ;-)
Any hints?

i have followed many of the posts in this General thread..
many have said they did not see the splash screen. but reason they quoted was because of the speed of booting... that "it is sooo fast, even splash screen doesn't show"

Plymouth ?


The normal (that is the fastest) way is to not show the Plymouth splash.

The splash screen is only showing when there is a notification - disk check (fsck) etc.


If you want to view the Plymouth splash.

Konsole:

sudo plymouthd
sudo plymouth --show-splash

Now the plymouth splash should be showing.

Stop the splash:

sudo plymouth quit
