Kontact quirks

Since yesterdays updates I am getting some strange behavior from kontact / kmail.

When I start up kontact kmail is configured so it check for new mail and again every 5 min.

    So far so good.

I have 5 email accounts all set to leave mail on the server as I also need to see them on my laptop while under way.

As of yesterday every time kmail checks for mail it downloads the same mails again and again. It doesn't seem to be comparing what is already in my inboxes and what is new on the server.

In one instance I had to stop the download or else I would have had upwards of 300'000 mails!

I have not tested this on my karmic install but will do shortly.

    Anyone else encounter this weirdness?

    Re: Kontact quirks

It seems to be a lucid thing as karmic (kde4.4.2) does not show this behavior.

After todays updates kmail seems to be back to normal again but akonadi refuses to start correctly.

    Oh, well another akonadi thread?

      Re: Kontact quirks

I was running OK untill the last updates, now I get:

[akonadiserver] /usr/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket

I also had to enable resources, as shown at http://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook_4.4 as Akondai didn't seem to be enabled.

Guess I'll have to wait for the next round of updates.

        Re: Kontact quirks

My resources are all behaving, even the google stuff but I get this:

        Edited for clarity:

Details: The MySQL server error log file '/home/fintan/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/mysql.err' contains errors.

Now Kontact won't even start and crashes plasma.
