Re: lost preview icons of jpg's [SOLVED]

This is more of an annoyance than a problem.

Since upgrading to KDE 4.4.2 icons of jpegs no longer show previews. They used to, not any longer. Is there a config file that needs to be reset to defaults? Is it a bug?

    Ideas or suggestions, anyone?

Also check, in Dolphin: Settings > General > Previews and ensure that JPEG Images is checked.

Yes it is dolphin. The icons in folders of jpg's were previews prior to upgrading to KDE 4.4.2. And yes I checked the relevant settings.

I also tried backing up & deleting dolphin's config files. But that didn't seem to make any difference either.

I also noticed that there are previews in the Information Panel in Dolphin. And FWIW, the .thumbnails folder in my home directory has plenty of files that appear to be the relevant files.

Could the lack of preview icons be a side effect of Akonadi crashing on start up?

I had a hunch that it was something like this.

In Dolphin: View ==> Adjust View Properties then check "Show Preview" and I recommend selecting "Use as Default for New Folders" as well. I did this on my home folder & now all is well.

Thank you timek718, that was driving me absolutely mental. Dolphin would only refuse to display icons in the Home>pictures folder (but would in sub folders!), which of course is where I transfer all my pictures to.
