kpackageget says Java jre already there

I had already posted this to the Karmic koala forum as I hadn't realized that this forum existed - apologies

    Hi,
I followed the path to upgrade my karmic koala to the Lucid Lynx beta last night. It spent an eon adding and subtracting software. Anyway, everything is OK with the exception of java6 jre. I need it to run an app I have but it the system says it's not there. When I try to install sun-java6-jre through the system settings > install new software that tells me that the attempt to load it is being blocked by sun-java6-jre. Now when the package appears in the software the down arrow is at the right not the 'X'.

It appears I need to force the removal of all references to sun-java6-jre so that I can install it properly. Anyone got any ides how to go about this??

I realize that some may think I'm on the wrong forum to ask this but I don't know of a forum for the Lucid Lynx upgrade yet??

    Any and all help appreciated.

    Quotes

Note: This is a beta release. Do not install it on production machines. The final stable version will be released on April 29, 2010.
NOTE: This is a beta (pre-) release. Pre-release versions of Lucid are NOT encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or for anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent, breakage. Pre-release versions ARE recommended for Kubuntu developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.' Please do not use this in a production environment with data or workflows that you cannot do without

I recommend using the command line for updating and upgrading, especially in the alpha stage, and pretty much up to the rc stage.

    Rule of Thumb

When you get a mysterious error with the gui, use the cli.

With the cli you usually get a full error message and could do a net search with the error message.
