Google Earth bin missing amd64/setup.gtk2

I tried installing Google Earth per this page:

And I got this:

The setup program seems to have failed on [b]amd64[/b]

Fatal error, installer failed to run at all!

This looks like kubuntu is missing something not just related to Google Earth.

It's much easier to add the medibuntu repository, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu, to your package manager then just click google earth and it installs. I'm having the latest Google Earth 5.1.3533.1731 with lucid beta.

I'll second that. I also use the Medibuntu repository for adding GoogleEarth to my 64 bit systems and it installs and works perfectly in four different systems I have here.

Thanks zenarcher and assettt. I added in the medibuntu repository. During updates, though, I just noticed yesterday, the repository info download hangs for a long while waiting for the medibuntu download. I think it is even timing out. Like I said, I just noticed this yesterday after wondering why 45 of 45 downloads was repeatedly taking so long.

Not sure about the Medibuntu problem. It seems to be working fine for me here. Maybe someone else is experiencing a problem and will have an idea.
