Saw that here when I went to download the 64 bit version of 10.04 to try it out a little bit (I am very excited for the next LTS release!) reg ubuntu was only 679 mbs I beleive... will Kubuntu get smaller for the final release? My connection isn't that great right now, it will take me all day to download that one... LOL :P

I think you're comparing the Kubuntu DVD to the Ubuntu Live CD. There's a Kubuntu Live CD also: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/
