kpackagekit not notifying of updates

It is set in kpackagekit to do various things under "settings--> software sources --> notify me of updates" All 4 "Kubuntu updates" are checked.

It never notifies me that I have updates... or if it does, it happens then disappears while I am not at the computer and never reminds me again.

The daemon is also checked off in "systemsettings--> services"

That's been a problem since KK came out. No one has yet found a solution other than enabling the old update_notifier_kde. I'm hoping it'll be fixed in LL.
