LL won't let me create a usb boot stick

    LL won't let me create a usb boot stick

    It fails with the message "Unable to unstall bootloader".
    I tried it from the System menu but it failed. So I opened a konsole and tried it as root. It failed again.

    It looks like usb-creator-kde is missing an nfsshare dependency.

    That problem could be limited to Grub 2. You might try that approach and see if you can manually install Grub2 on the MBR of the stick. Qqmike's tutorial covers that.


    p.s. I'm not that keen on usb-creator, because it insists on formatting the entire USB stick before it will install Linux -- kind of a waste on anything bigger than a 1G stick. Here's another approach if you're interested: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3107512.0

      I had the exact same problem with kubuntu 10.04, but it worked perfectly in kubuntu 9.10.

      I think there is a bug in the newest usb-creator that hasn't been fixed yet.

        The updates the day before yesterday fixed the problem. Yesterday I was able to make a LiveUSB stick.
