Upgrading from 8.04 LTS

Apparently you can't go from 8.04 LTS directly to 9.10. You apparently have to install at least one of the intervening versions.

I hope it's safe to assume that you can upgrade from one LTS version to the next.

Hmm - that would be interesting, from the KDE 3.5 to the KDE 4.

some 10+ desktops still on 8.04, then I have a few on 9.10 who will NOT

The KDE part of Kubuntu 8.04 is not LTS as I understand it.

You can hope for anything you want. In fact, I think you should just try it and then report back here with your results. But be prepared for failure, and have your data backed up safely fist.

Upgrades from hardy are not supported.
