    Lucid Alpha 3

Over all I have to say lucid is already looking awesome

Things in general are working better .. such as

-knetwork recognized my router and worked right away
-sound for amarok worked with no complaints
    -Things are faster and snappier

My only complaint is that lucid does not recognize when my laptop ac adapter is plugged in. I really hoped that after having a system 76 laptop for almost 2 years with upstream reports to ubuntu that Kubuntu would finally handle a basic thing such as this.

Besides that I can't wait for the final release.

(I posted here because I can't seem to post in the lucid section)

    Re: Lucid Alpha 3

System 76 doesn't make laptops, they sell OEM laptops with Linux installed.

What is the actual brand and model of your laptop?

What does lspci (in a konsole) show, and "lshw"?

Have you tried to install a battery monitor?

      Re: Lucid Alpha 3

I think that's key, the laptop battery monitor needs to be running, it seems to be the only way to get access to power-management. I think the installer detects whether the system is a laptop, and installs laptop components if that's the case. Assuming that this hasn't happened in your case, you should file a bug report early enough for this to be fixed (you can also notify the folks in System76).

      Good luck!

        Re: Lucid Alpha 3

From Karmic with kde 4.3.5 ... I do have the default kde battery monitor running which shows it charging and batter status. However it never actually recognizes it is plugged in to the ac adaptor. Which is the same in lucid.

        I have Serval Proffessional ... aka a Serp5

System 76 is not as Knowledgeable or helpful if you install kubuntu on their laptops.

This might be worth a try:

          acpi_enforce_resource=lax

Some times adding this boot option helps with some obscure power management/ACPI issues. See here for more:

          http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/li...1.3/00230.html

You should try that for one boot before making the change permanent (just edit grub at boot time)

            sudo dmidecode

may give you more info on your hardware.

                Here
                https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gr...0During%20Boot

Just add the text acpi_enforce_resource=lax at the end of the "linux" line, after splash.

In any case it would be great if you opened a bug report in Launchpad!
