Older versions of ubuntu had safe graphics option or something like that in livecd options. When i tryed simply to install or try kubuntu without installing i got allways blank screen so i used that option. But it seems in lucid this option was taken from livecd. There was something in help about writing vga=771 if you have trouble with laptops but that didnt work or i didnt know how/where to write it on bootline. Any suggestions how to get it to work with vesa driver or somehow else? i got 1280x800 resolution laptop with nvidia 8600M GT.

See this bug report explanation. Try "nomodeset" using F6 option, add to end of line.

Re: could you reintroduce safe graphics option?
thx, with nomodeset i got it installed though strangely when i first time installed it got stuck at 86% finding other operating systems although there was nothing to be found as i formatted harddrive. Now only if i would find somehow to get my wireless working... Strange thing is i see networks i just cant connect them, forever authenticates. Iwl3945 driver has been unusable from karmic alpha 4 for me.
