Anyone else have problems with Firefox 3.6 on Kubuntu Lucid?

(Firefox 3.6 on Kubuntu 10.04 dist-upgraded to current)

Firefox isn't displaying cookie dialogs (I like to have it ask), which leads to not letting me switch tabs and not exiting cleanly (I have to manually kill its processes).

The error console tells me, "No chrome package registered for chrome://cookie/content/cookieAcceptDialog.xul".

    Anyone else have this problem?

The regular Linux Firefox package downloaded from Mozilla works fine.

    <edit> It's bug #514108.

Yeah. I'm having weirdness with Firefox. No search plugins/engines in the search-box. They're all gone & the dialog box won't close normally. I have to click on the "x" in the upper right corner to close it.

    Hopefully, it'll be fixed soon.

Same here... I can click on bookmark items, but can't enter anything on the address bar...

I can't seem to get firefox to work at all If I run it in Konsole, it prints "Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped) and exits. Any ideas? I've tried re-installing the packages multiple times already and that hasn't doesn't seem to help.

An interesting development: GIMP seems to be doing exactly the same thing. I wonder the problem is with some underlying library or something.

I'm running the 64bit version of Kubuntu Lucid Lynx. Both FireFox and Gimp work perfectly.

OOh no! Maybe it is just me! (or just other 32-but people.) Are we using the same version of the packages? How do I check?

This may surprise you but there are a lot of bugs in firefox reported in launchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...+bugs?start=75

And this one has symptoms relatively similar to mine, except than removing compatibility.ini has no effect:
                  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ox/+bug/518422

Unfortunately, no crash handler dialogue box comes up, and I'm not sure how to go about finding useful information without it.

running gdb on the executable just complains about how it can't find libxul.so, and running ldd on the executable lists it and a couple of other libraries as "Not Found" despite the fact that they're in the same directory as firefox-bin, and gdb's show-solib-path function reports . (dot = current directory, i presume), so I don't think that's what's causing the problem, and I haven't bothered giving GIMP any of the same treatment. Getting firefox to work is more important.

Is here a good place to get help? How do I go about getting some more info about what's going on inside firefox when it crashes, so I can try and fix it / report it as a bug?

I had this happen too, but it also referenced "libmoon"

After removing the Moonlight (MS Silverlight plugin port by Novel) package from my computer, Firefox started as expected and everything was back to normal. Not entirely sure where the problem lies, really didn't spend the time looking for it since I rarely use the plugin anyway.

Hope that helps anyone else with the problem.... If it doesn't fix your Firefox seg-faults, you can always re-install it

                    Cheers

Fixed the problem [well sorta]. Uninstalling "pango-graphite" package cleared everything up nicely, and didn't break any dependencies, so maybe I installed it bacause it was a suggested package. Not sure what it does, but it just seems to break everything when re-installed, so I'll just forget about it until it's fixed.
