    Reiserfs is causing problems

    Hi
I am having problems with Reiserfs in Karmic.
The maintainer has been jailed for murdering his wife and it is no longer supported.
Could I suggest it is not offered as a choice when installing Lucid Lynx.

Who told you that ReiserFS isn't supported?

You can follow its continued development here. The most recent posting was today!

Version 3 is fast, stable and reliable. I've never used ver 4 but that was what Reiser was working on when he was arrested and ver 4 is what the postings on the dev list are about. There are some unpatched bugs which they are working on. Which version are you using?

      Re: Reiserfs is causing problems

      Hi
      Thanks for the reply.
How do I find out the version I am using?
I used the version on the Karmic install disk.
I keep getting messages at startup that partitions cannot be mounted especially "home" fstab problems.
When I did a search for this problem I found the information about no support, one on the Karmic section of this forum.

        Hmmmmmmm.

The server at kerneltrap.org appears to be down. But, ping kerneltrap.org and the response comes from osuosl.org -- apparently a redirect. More interesting results can be seen with a
        Code:
        whois kerneltrap.org
        and a
        Code:
        whois osuosl.org
I dunno, GG -- it may be that someone is continuing development of reiserfs. But I cannot figure out who it would be -- can you?
