Packages missing from the installation of kubuntu-desktop

Staff just upgraded to lucid and am having problems trying to install kubuntu-desktop:

    lnas90 @ lnas90-laptop: ~ $ sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
    Reading package lists ... Ready
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information ... Ready
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that
you requested an impossible situation or if you are using
unstable distribution that some required packages have not
created yet or were removed from the "Incoming".
The following information may help resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kubuntu-desktop: Depends: kubuntu-artwork-usplash but will not install
Depends: usplash but will not install
    E: Broken packages
    lnas90 @ lnas90-laptop: ~ $

Remembering that my system is all updated and running very well, but I prefer KDE SC I install kubuntu.
Someone has had the same problem?

Did you try to install kubuntu-artwork-usplash manually?

Now yes friend, look at the result:
      lnas90 @ lnas90-laptop: ~ $ sudo apt-get install kubuntu-artwork-usplash
      [sudo] password for lnas90:
      Reading package lists ... Ready
      Building dependency tree
      Reading state information ... Ready

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
      libdrm-nouveau1
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following extra packages will be installed:
      usplash-theme-ubuntu
The following packages will be REMOVED:
      gdm gdm-guest-session indicator-applet-session-session indicator plymouth

The following NEW packages will be installed:
      usplash usplash-theme-ubuntu

Looks like it should install once usplash is installed.

Yes friend I know that, but note that it will remove many other packages that do not think sinseramente valid.
          There's no reason for that.

Re: Packages missing from the installation of kubuntu-desktop

What I would do, is try installing it with synaptic. Choose to install kubuntu-desktop, then uncheck all of the usplash options. This will technically prevent "kubutnu-desktop" from installing, but all of its dependencies will still be checked, and should install just fine. Be sure to look over what will be removed before doing the install; you may have to go through synaptic and uncheck the things usplash was going to remove. The only thing you will be missing is the boot splash stuff -- you will get the text, and then the normal login screen.
You will probably get a screen during the install process, asking you to choose a default login manager -- gdm or kdm. You want kdm as the default if you are going to use kde, as some of kde's features don't integrate well with gdm.

Edit: FYI the plan as I understand it is to eventually use plymouth instead of usplash anyway, so the loss of the boot splash screen is only temporary.
