[solved] bootsplash doesn't appears after install gutsy

Hello,

I've just installed the Kubuntu Gutsy in my notebook. It is almost everything OK but the bootsplash screen doesn't show up during the boot. I verified usplash is installed. What should be happen?

I noticed that myself and just fixed it. edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and around line 132 you will find this:
kernel         /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=UUID=1c7ead12-ca5d-4b27-8349-de30a9585ae5 ro quiet splash

remove the tail end of "quiet splash" and the messages will keep rolling along.
Also a couple of lines down there is "quiet" all by itself. Don't know what this is. I removed it and rebooted and put it back and re-booted , with same results.

EDIT: Nevermind, worked for me in ubuntu but not kubuntu

2nd EDIT: After some research the above link will work except where it says ubuntu you must type kubuntu (duh go figure lol).

Thank you guys!

Following your sugestions and researching on the internet, I find the solution that works for me:

Change file /etc/usplash.conf to my monitor resolution: 1280x800
Execute: sudo update-initramfs -u -k `uname -r`

AWESOME! Such a simple little fix for what looks like a complex problem. Hope this gets recognized and updated for everyone! (wanders off to launchpad )
